Speed Dating: Blog Style

***** NOTE: I am guest-posting over at Nicole's blog today, in addition to this post here.*****
***** Because I'm generous like that. *****

Now, I haven't dated anyone in over a decade (WHA?!) and even then, it was a pass-notes-in-the-hall, have-your-friend-ask-his-friend-if-he-said-he-liked-you sort of romance.  But I think that, if I were a dating person today, I might try speed dating.  Its waaay low pressure, you get to meet a ton of people (I love meeting people) and I think there's food involved.

Speed Dating

So when I saw that This Little Momma was hosting a Speed Dating {Blog Style} Link-Up, I thought I'd give it a go.  So here's my "go".  Please don't ding me!

I'm one of 8 kids.
I love to ride horses, although its been a while.
I live 650 miles from where my husband & I grew up.
I pack my husband's lunch & lay his clothes out when I can.
I have a dog.
I married my highschool sweetheart.
I've graduated 3 times (highschool, bachelors, masters) and am planning on a 4th (PhD).
I use a lot of butter when I cook/bake.
I love the out-of-doors.
I love adventures.
Chocolate covered strawberries & caramel apples are my favorite foods.
I love Jesus.
I love professional, but not college, football.  This is a problem in Clemson-Town.
I love helping people.
I don't eat fish.
I'm an on-again-off-again runner.
I'm the wife of a firefighter (full-time, part-time, volunteer).
I'm big into gardening, although I'm always surprised when everything doesn't die.
I like to be crafty.
I'm not a dedicated sweet or salty person.
I thought I wanted to be a baker, but now I don't.
I have 7 nieces & nephews, and missing them is the worst part about moving away from home.
I don't have any kids, although I do want a big family.
I'm a terrible decorator, and our house is still pretty impersonal (6+ months).
I listen to country music, 80's music, a little top 40, a little of whatever this is, and what I affectionately call, Rockin' Jesus Music.
I love action/adventure movies, and hate trashy chick flicks.
I don't like the taste of coffee or beer.  Or fish, but I already said that.

I have a whole other list of, what you may find to be, dealbreakers.  Peruse at will.

I'm able to be contacted via TWITTER, PINTEREST, FACEBOOK, and EMAIL, although I dream of moving away and running an off-grid, self-sufficient farm.  Seriously, I want chickens and cows, gardens and hay fields and solar panels.

So what do you think?  Are we compatible?  Where do you see this going?

What are your intentions,
TFW

  1. hahaa..you got me laughing. i used to think people were crazy to think it was great to be past all that - i mean dates are so fun, right? But now i'm one of them, SO glad to be on the other side where you can just laugh about it!
Looks like we are in good shape for an LTR except for one major dealbreaker - No coffee? Tell me how you even get up in the morning! Sounds like you NEED someone like me in your life who can show you the way to a better world ;)

    1. OKay, let me say, I do drink coffee sometimes. Just a half cup, mixed with a half cup of hot cocoa. It's sort of like a mocha, or at least, what a mocha should be. But I bow to your tutelage... :)

  2. haha yes! Except I like beer- and the occasional cup of coffee or sushi. I dream on living in the middle of nowhere and having a self sufficient farm also. Go you with your pursuit of a PhD!!

    1. I mean, it's worth a shot, right? And I can get into pretty much any football game that is being well-played... We've got a chance :)

  5. Call me Paula Dean, too, because I frickin' love butter and use it whenever I can.
And I'm the exact opposite of you - I love college football but hate professional.

    1. What is up with you people & your <3 of college ball? The players change all the time, there's a ton of not-so-good players mixed in with the stars... I don't know... you can try to persuade me, though! At least we'll always have butter...

  6. we measure quantities of butter in our house according to Paula Deen. For example: "I only used half a Paula Deen of butter". We saw it an episode of Iron Chef, and it totally stuck.

Save the fact that you don't like coffee, I think we would get along pretty well.

    1. That's too funny, measuring it according to Mrs. Deen... hilarious. I'm open to new coffee experiences, as well, and can enjoy it when mixed with hot chocolate :)

  7. Just a suggestion but if Barb asks you to join her at Michelle's for coffee while you're home, I'd say 'yes' even though you're not a fan of the java. She is desperate for friends and she carries a gun. Don't say I didn't warn you.

  9. Read your post at Nicole's- loved it!

Let's see... I don't eat fish either. Yuck! Rockin' Jesus Music is one of my fav kinds. And chocolate strawberries are the bomb. As is plenty of butter when baking. So I think we could find something to go off of there?

HELLO DELICIOUSNESS! I think beer and coffee are an acquired taste. I know because I've acquired a taste for both! Love ya lady!

  16. Your honesty does you credit, at least people can know most of your quirks without finding them out. I can relate to the ones about food (I just cannot share food, if it's on my plate DO NOT TOUCH IT) in your other list and going out when I consider late (after 8pm)yes I like to be tucked up at home by then! I just hate how the dating world tries to make you forget you age and carry on like you are in your early twenties still. Mid-week speed dating events, I went to one and was shattered the next day at work, why can't they be at the weekend in the afternoon? Alcohol free? if you genuinely like someone then it has more promise than after 3 drinks in a low lit room, when you too tired to listen to what they are even saying! (excuse the ranting!)
