I've got a new hobby, y'all. And, like most of my hobbies, it might make me seem a bit more like a grandma. And maybe it's weird to be so good at being a grandma before I'm even a mom. But whatevs. I'm 82% sure that this is going to be my favorite hobby of the year. At least the week. Either way.

8 days ago, my MIL got me the extruder attachment for my KitchenAid. Today, I made pasta. Today, my life was changed.
Oh my goodness, I can't even explain to you how much fun it is! I'm pretty sure it's not actually called the "extruder attachement," especially since "extruder" keeps showing up as a misspelled word. I don't care. It's 100% like the playdough extruder, except you don't even have to push on a handle, and you are supposed to eat what comes out. And what comes out, you ask?
I made Fusillini (on the left) and Bucatini (on the right, obvs!). The fusillini, I cut short to use in chicken noodle soup later today. So much more fun than rolling it out and cutting it up like in the soup recipe posted here. And the bucatini, well, it might just be my favorite kind of pasta. It's hollow spaghetti, people. So. Much. Fun.

I used to be so proud of that stuff.
I'm still a fan of 'em, but it's different now.
I don't know if it's me who's changed, or maybe it's just circumstance.
We'll always have those poorly-lit pictures to remember our time together by.
Of course, by the time I'd made enough fusillini for the soup, I only made about 2 dozen strands of bucatini (even these words are fun to say!), so it's not really enough for pasta for dinner. And I do so want to make bucatini with a yummy roasted red pepper sauce.
But you know what that means?
Time to make more pasta!!! I can't wait to try colored/flavored pasta. Sun-dried tomato pasta (red). Spinach pasta (green). I even hear tell of butternut squash pasta that is orange. What can I do to make blue pasta? Is there such a thing as dessert pasta? I could use blackberries to color the pasta, but what would you even put on it for a sauce? Or would that just be weird? Oh, the possibilities!!
What's your new hobby for the year? Or the month. Heck, even the week, no need to commit to something so early ;)
